Knockoff Anthro Shirtdress

While browsing Anthropologie's site for some ideas, I came across this cutie pie.

Adorable. And only $148.00.

But look what I found at the thrift store for $4.00...

Retro Headband Tutorial

I love the look of using a knotted handkerchief as a headband with an updo, but I usually can't pull it off because a) it's too hot, b) it slips around too much, or c) I can't find the size and style handkerchiefs I want. This is my attempt to fix that problem.

Made from a strip of cloth (left over from my nephew's quilt!) and a couple inches of elastic, these were easy to whip up and they work beautifully.

Basketweave Ribbon Pillow Top Tutorial

I first made this pillow last summer when we moved into our new home. I had saved every scrap of ribbon that had come on wedding presents and wanted to do something fabulous with them. Nice grosgrain ribbon should not be wasted! (The green ribbons came from Williams-Sonoma, the grey from AT Loft bags.) This is my tutorial for how to make a pillow with a basketweave ribbon top.

kitchen love

Now that school is out and I have free time again, let the summer crafting commence! My favorite kind of crafting is the kind which uses supplies I already have. It's amazing how things I have collected over the years can be reused, refashioned, or repurposed in ways I would never have imagined.

The kitchen has been getting all my love the past couple days. I'm a sucker for bunting (and burlap) and saw this project over at Fox Hollow Cottage.

Supplies:
  • Burlap
  • Fabric
  • Ribbon
  • String (I used jute twine)
  • Hot glue gun
